Summary:Breast cancer in the nipple is rare, and most cases are invasive ductal carcinoma. To our knowledge, invasive lobular carcinoma in the nipple has not been reported in Japan. Herein, we report a case of invasive lobular carcinoma in the nipple with skin invasion. A 62-year-old woman presented to our hospital with bleeding from the right nipple. Although an induration on the right nipple and areola was found on physical examination, mammography and ultrasonography did not reveal any tumor in her right breast. The exfoliative cytology of the areola was class II. Sixteen months after, her right nipple and areola were harder than on her first visit. Punch biopsy from her right nipple revealed invasive lobular carcinoma. Right mastectomy and right axially lymph nodes (level II) dissection were performed. Histological examination revealed an invasive lobular carcinoma in the right nipple and areola with skin invasion (T1 N1 M0 Stage IIA). The patient is currently alive, 1 year 3 months after surgery, without recurrence.
