ChemInform Abstract: Furan Ring Opening-Pyrrole Ring Closure: Simple Route to 5-Alkyl-2-(aminomethyl)pyrroles

The synthesis of the title pyrroles is based on hydrolytic ring opening of substrates (I) followed by pyrrole ring closure of ketones (II) under Paal—Knorr conditions.
