Summary:The impact of varying sowing dates on the seed quality parameters of wheat is a subject of critical importance in agricultural research. Diverse sowing dates lead to distinct developmental trajectories and maturation patterns in wheat. These variations, in turn, significantly influence critical seed quality parameters. The current research study employed a split-plot design with three replications during the rabi season of 2016-17 at the Wheat Research Unit, Dr. P.D.K.V., Akola (M.S.). The experimental design featured various treatments, encompassing three distinct sowing dates: 15th November, 26th November and 13th December, representing timely sowing, late sowing and extreme late sowing, respectively. The investigation incorporated seven distinct wheat genotypes as variables. Of the parameters studied, including germination percentage, shoot length and seed vigor index, those seeds sown in a timely period exhibited superior performance. In contrast, root length reached its peak in the context of late sown period. This divergence in results underscores the influence of sowing date on specific aspects of wheat growth and development.
