Summary:The first of August 2016 was the 70th birthday of Evgenii Sergeevich Polovinkin, a prominent expert in mathematical control theory, the theory of differential inclusions, and multivalued and non-smooth analysis, and an outstanding organizer in science and education. He was born in the city of Ryazan'. After graduating from high school, he studied at a radio-engineering college, but he later felt called to mathematics and enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University. There he managed to combine his studies with intensive public activity. In 1976 he defended his Ph.D. dissertation "Differential games in dynamical systems", prepared under the supervision of Professor V. M. Tikhomirov.
