Summary:In their book Theory and Practice of Online Therapy, Weinberg and Rolnick (2019) expand the borders of online therapy to include family therapy, group therapy, and organizational consultation. Children seek closeness with a parent who can protect and take care of them, resulting in the assumption that the therapist should also be close, in order to help the patient repair attachment ruptures. Clark and Beck (2010), in their seminal work about anxiety disorders, state that “the practitioner will be relying on clients' self-report of their physiological responses since use of psychophysiological laboratory-based or ambulatory equipment for monitoring purposes is rarely feasible in the clinical setting” (p. 144). The following represents a claim made by Philips: Whenever the heart beats, the skin color changes because of the extra blood running through the vessels.
