Summary:Cairo city has a special status among other cities in Egyptian’s imagination: it is a world city. Therefore, Cairo is an enigma. Its knowledge is out of reach. Then, how can Cairo’s fictions help a better understanding of it? A special topic for novelists is the disintegration of the town. According to this special fear, these novelists describe the town in a dynamic way through specific points of view, such as the lane, or district, the dwellings, or the moving cab, which represents a new kind of heterotopia inside the town.
