Summary:The results of numerical simulation of the signal of a scanning lidar for the case of sounding a cloud containing quasi-horizontally oriented plate crystals are presented. The results of the numerical calculation confirm the presence of a sharp increase in the depolarization ratio in the vicinity of scanning angles of 30 deg, which was observed earlier in the experiment. It has been established that the presence of this enhancement in the depolarization ratio is a sign of the ideal shape of the lamellar crystal and can be used to interpret the data of experimental observations.
