Summary: | There are many existing projects aiming to collect, digitize, analyze and share language data. However, there is only a small amount of data for service or professional interactions, for automatized or standardized language (e.g. voicemail, public announcements) and for urban and other professional uses of written language (e.g. information, signposts, etc.). These types of language use are precisely what people in a state of language insecurity, whether migrants or native speakers, have to deal with on a daily basis. This article looks first at the sociolinguistic issues surrounding data collection before going on to describe the actual use of these data for learning French in the context of integration. |
