Summary:This paper is an attempt to ascertain some relationships between the distribution of brasilian cities and that of an passenger traffic, from the empirical evidence presented on a series of maps. The effects of some urban characteristics as population size, special urban functions and proximity of other cities are considered, in particular the "traffic-shadow effect" and consequent desappearance of the airports localized within the limits of area submitted to this effect.
