Summary: | The aim of the article is to identify forms and types of electronic information resources and services prepared and published by academic libraries of higher education institutions of Ukraine which, accordingly, reflect the purpose and content of the goals, values and policies of the Open Science Movement (OSM). The research methods ground on the application of a systemic and structural approach, which makes it possible to perceive the subject under consideration as a holistic multifaceted entity, its connections, relations, which are also a combination of a certain number of elements. Scientific novelty. It is assumed that the presented overview and description of the main components of the Open Access Movement, explicated in a variety of services and information resources, provides free access to scientific data, publications, promotes and ensures the availability and dissemination of knowledge without spatial and temporal restrictions. Main conclusions. Academic libraries of Ukrainian higher education institutions make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Open Science concept. The state of information representation of libraries in the scientific and educational space of universities has been determined, which is reflected in the availability of the library’s website, information about the electronic catalogue, electronic archive, and digitisation of rare publications. In this segment, we observe the following patterns: predominance of electronic documents in the structure of the collection; presentation of the web resource «Local History» (KNU); functioning of separate electronic archives of digitised old printed books, rare editions; electronic archive of newspapers of the 19th–20th centuries (V. Karazin Kharkiv National University): digitisation of rare editions with their inclusion in the scientific digital library (Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University). These facts reflect the diverse expansion of the thematic representation of electronic resources in the information space. It is established that almost every library provides open access to subscribed scientometric, abstract, full-text, digital platforms and tools in such a way that the “core” of this list is made up of authoritative scientometric databases, supplemented by other sectoral and thematic resources formed in accordance with the university profile. The academic libraries of classical universities make a significant contribution to the implementation of the ideas of Open Science, ensuring the development of electronic resources, the functioning of repositories, the creation of digital libraries based on their own local history resources, and digitised documents. |
