Summary: | Introduction/BackgroundMalignant melanoma of the uterine cervix is a very rare pathology; there have been some reported cases and it is not clear what the cause of this is.MethodologyThe report and review of literature about malignant melanoma of the Cervix is carried out.ResultsA 54-year-old patient, with multiple pregnancies, with no personal or family history of colon cancer and gastric cancer. Presents genital bleeding after sexual relations, in small amounts. The physical examination revealed a cervix replaced by a 4x3 cm tumor, without involvement of the vagina or parametria. The cervical biopsy reported: primary malignant melanoma of the cervix and the extension tamographic studies did not report metastasis. She underwent radical hysterectomy + bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy with pathological anatomy results: Malignant Melanoma NOS of the uterine cervix measuring 3.5 x 3 cm - Infiltrates up to 8 mm. in cervical wall of 15 mm. Vaginal surgical edge free of malignant neoplasm, closest to 6 mm from the malignant neoplasm. - Isthmus: Free of malignant neoplasia. Negative bilateral pelvic nodes: 0/13. Therefore, external radiotherapy + adjuvant brachytherapy is indicated.ConclusionMalignant melanoma of the cervix is very aggressive, local recurrence and metastases usually occur within a short period of a few months from the initial diagnosis. The prognosis of malignant melanoma of the cervix is very poor, since more than 87% of patients reported in the literature die within 36 months after diagnosis, despite the fact that 41% of cases are diagnosed in stage FIGO I. The treatment of this entity has not yet been standardized, so no conclusions can be made in this regard. The size of the primary tumor, the negative status of the lymph nodes and the absence of invasion of the lymphovascular space are factors that impact the survival of this entity.DisclosuresNinguna.Abstract 1294 Figure 1 |
