Summary: | Introduction/BackgroundWe aimed to investigate the effect of the perioperative nutritional risk index on the quality of life, wound healing and well-being of the patients.Methodology137 patients who were operated included in this prospective study. The cases were divided into two groups as low-risk and high-risk according to the NSR 2002 nutritional index. Demographic and clinical characteristics of the cases, vitals, upper arm circumference, triceps skinfold thickness, smoking and alcohol use, chronic disease history, working status, surgical and pathologic features, incision type, subcutaneous closure, suture material, wound healing, infection, dehiscence, corset,ECOG performance score and preoperative laboratory values, Anxiety and Depression Scale, NSR 2002 form and Quality of Life Form all of data were evaluated statistically.ResultsA total of 137 cases 124 cases in and 13 cases in group 2, were evaluated in the study. A statistically significant difference was found between the two groups in terms of demographic and clinical characteristics, upper arm circumference and triceps skin fold. When the two groups were compared according to surgical and laboratory results, a significant difference was found in terms of wound healing and complications, albumin levels .There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of anxiety and depression scores. High well-being and moderate quality of life were found in both groups, and there was no statistical difference between them. Between the two groups, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain, dyspnea, insomnia, loss of appetite and diarrhea. In the correlation analysis of the factors that significantly affected the NSR 2002 risk scoring between the two groups, there was a positive correlation wound and complication and upper arm circumference, triceps skinfold thickness and albumin were negatively correlated (table 1).ConclusionThe nutritional status determined in the preoperative period affects the well-being of the patients in the perioperative and postoperative period.DisclosuresNo conflict of interest.Abstract 1016 Table 1Comparison of cases according to HAD and EORTC QLQ—C3O qulaity of life scale |
