Summary: | We report a Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis) reusing a Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) nest in the same breeding season. The Northern Cardinal nest failed during incubation on 19 June 2006, but the Gray Catbird nest was successful, fledging three young on 31 July 2006. Nest site availability does not appear to be the reason for reuse of the nest. Time constraints late in the breeding season may result in use of old nests. |
