Summary:Draws on information found at the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF) Web site to consider how & where the democracy-building entity should invest. It is argued that UNDEF must have a grasp of democracy models -- ie, the modifiers used to describe them -- if it is to promote it; three essential adjectives are identified: liberal, representative, & monitory. Thus, liberal, representative, & monitory democracy is the broad model to pursue in democratization. It is contended that UNDEF must find its position within the UN family of organizations as well as understand its place in the market. The link between democracy & development is examined, along with UNDEF's projects. D. Edelman
