Summary:Furthermore, in the authors' experience, ect has been shown to be very effective at treating several canine neoplasms, including haemangiopericytoma, melanoma and mast cell tumours ( Spugnini and Porrello 2003 , Spugnini and others 2006b , c ). [...]ect has been shown to improve localised control and overall survival in cats affected by soft tissue sarcomas ( Spugnini and others 2006a ). ect is an efficacious and well tolerated therapy, its side effects being limited to rare cases of spontaneously healing local inflammation involving the deep subcutaneous connective tissues and occasional wound dehiscence ( Spugnini and others 2006a , b ). [...]adjuvant ect is a well tolerated and efficacious addition to surgery, and warrants further investigations with new drugs and improved delivery systems in companion animals.
