Summary:The solenocerid shrimp, Solenocera choprai Nataraj, 1945, is a widely distributed species in the Indo-West Pacific area. On the western side it has been reported from the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf. Due to its geographical range, the presence of this species in the Gulf of Oman is not a surprise, but nevertheless it has not yet been officially recorded. Here, Safaie and Shahdadi report the occurrence and establishment of S. choprai in the Gulf of Oman. The specimens have been deposited in the collections of the Fisheries Laboratory, University of Hormozgan (FHU), Bandar Abbas, Iran.
