Summary: | Due to its success, categories for LTFT training were removed for all trainees in England and Wales in 2022.2 As part of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) national network of LTFT representatives, we observed that LTFT trainee numbers were increasing coinciding with the removal of LTFT categories. The number of trainees reported by the FOI requests included trainees who were in post, or out of programme for research, experience or clinical training. The General Medical Council national training survey showed a rise in LTFT trainees from 9.1% in 2013 to 17.1% in 2022.3 Comparison of our data with this pan-specialty data highlights the relative popularity of LTFT training in paediatrics. |
