Pregnant women with severe vomiting and electrolyte imbalance may also develop osmotic demyelination syndrome, with similar extrapontine lesions.3 However, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder serum antibodies were negative and there had been no rapid shifts in serum osmolality.
