Summary:The aim of this chapter is to provide an initial assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on civil society and volunteering in Northern Ireland using new evidence. It discusses these findings in the light of the policy context and what is known about the profile of civil society and the extent and profile of volunteering. Based on survey data and interviews, the chapter outlines the challenges the pandemic has thrown up in the particular circumstances of Northern Ireland and speculates on future directions.
