The Thermal Decomposition of Copper(II) Fluoride Dihydrate1

The thermal decomposition of copper(II) fluoride dihydrate has been studied by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and chemical analysis. It undergoes a two-stage decomposition, forming CuOHF-CuF2 at 132°, followed by de-composition to the oxide and fluoride at 420°. The related basic f...

Summary:The thermal decomposition of copper(II) fluoride dihydrate has been studied by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and chemical analysis. It undergoes a two-stage decomposition, forming CuOHF-CuF2 at 132°, followed by de-composition to the oxide and fluoride at 420°. The related basic fluoride, CuOHF, also undergoes a two-stage decomposition, first forming CuOHF-CuF2 at 345°.
