Summary:Taiwan's Public Health Physician Law was launched in June 2020, becoming Asia's first Public Health Physician Law. The Ministry of Health and Welfare has started to promote the legislation of public hygienists since the SARS outbreak in 2003. However, due to various reasons, such as the positioning, business scope, professional exclusivity and examination qualifications of public hygienists, it has not been able to proceed smoothly with the Legislative Yuan's review. After nearly two decades, the Public Health Practice Act has finally taken off in Taiwan. The Ministry of Health and Welfare is pleased to say that the passage of the "Public Health Practice Act" is an important milestone for Taiwan's public medical and health industry. The Public Health Practitioners Law is a newly promoted law in our country, and the impact that the new law will have on our country is still unknown.
