Summary:A mathematical model is given for the occurrence of preferred orbits and orbital velocities in a Keplerian system. The result can be extended into energies and other properties of physical systems. The values given by the model fit closely with observations if the Planck scale is chosen as origin and the process considered as volumetric doubling in 3- and 4-dimensions. Examples of possible period tripling are also given. Comparison is made with the properties of the basic elementary particles, the Solar system and other physical phenomena.
