Summary: | New thickness and shape parameters for describing the thermal boundary layer
formed by 2-D fluid flow along a heated (cooled) wall are presented. The
parameters are based on probability distribution function methodology in which
the thermal profile thickness and shape are described by central moments of the
thermal profile. The moment based parameters are simple integrals of the
temperature profile. The usefulness of the new method is demonstrated by
applying the description to laminar and turbulent boundary layer datasets. |
