Summary:The mathematical model describing the non-stationary natural pH-gradient arising under the action of an electric field in an aqueous solution of ampholytes (amino acids) is constructed. The model is a part of a more general model of the isoelectrofocusing (IEF) process. The presented model takes into account: 1) general Ohm's law (electric current flux includes the diffusive electric current); 2) dissociation of water; 3) difference between isoelectric point (IEP) and isoionic point (PZC -- point of zero charge). We also study the Kohlraush's function evolution and discuss the role of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation.
