Bioactive Terpenoids from Octocorallia. 3. A New Eunicellin-Based Diterpenoid from the Soft Coral Cladiella sphaeroides

A new diterpenoid, cladiellaperoxide (2), has been isolated from the soft coral Cladiella sphaeroides, together with the known diterpenoid cladiellisin (1). Their structures were characterized by NMR studies and chemical conversion. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 have been elucidated by the...

Summary:A new diterpenoid, cladiellaperoxide (2), has been isolated from the soft coral Cladiella sphaeroides, together with the known diterpenoid cladiellisin (1). Their structures were characterized by NMR studies and chemical conversion. The absolute configurations of 1 and 2 have been elucidated by the modified Mosher method. Compound 2 showed lethality toward brine shrimp.
