Summary:Palygorskite was coated with polyurethane latex with aluminium potassium sulfate dodecahydrate as demulsifying agent. The coating was proofed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermogravimetric analysis indicated that the mass content of polyurethane was 9%. Transmission electron microscopy observation revealed that the coating was about 10 nm thick.
