Summary:A study is conducted to demonstrate exceptional layered ordering of cobalt and iron in perovskites. This exceptional type of cationic ordering suggests that the oxygen stoichiometry may play a role in its stabilization, resulting from the alternate stacking of double perovskite slices YBaCo2O5 and triple perovskite slices with the ideal composition YBa2Fe3O8. Annular bright field STEM (ABF-STEM) imaging has been carried out to understand the distribution of oxygen vacancies in the structure.
