Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans in surface sediments from pearl river delta in China

Sediment samples were collected from eight different locations in the Pearl River Delta, China, and levels of PCDDs and PCDFs were measured. Six of 17 congeners were detected, with octaCDD found at the highest concentration, followed by 1,2,3,4,7,8,9-heptaCDD and octaCDF. Toxic equivalent values ran...

Summary:Sediment samples were collected from eight different locations in the Pearl River Delta, China, and levels of PCDDs and PCDFs were measured. Six of 17 congeners were detected, with octaCDD found at the highest concentration, followed by 1,2,3,4,7,8,9-heptaCDD and octaCDF. Toxic equivalent values ranged 0.6 17.5 pg/g in sediments from the eight sites. Levels of octaCDD decreased from the upper reaches to the lower reaches of the river.
