Summary:A rapid quantitative high performance liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of carbaryl and alpha-naphthol at the parts-per-billion level in well water is described. The effect of refrigeration and acidification of the samples was examined. When stored in Sep-PAK C18 cartridges at ambient temperatures, recovery of carbaryl and alpha-naphthol respectively was 100 per cent and 97 per cent after 24 hours and 98 per cent and 89 per cent after 5 days.
