Summary:In this work we have proved that struvite and calcite crystals can be obtained in the presence of the cellular membrane fraction of Myxococcus xanthus, when appropriate supersaturated solutions are used. Probably, the negative charged points of the external side of the cellular structures could reduce the metastability field of struvite and calcite, acting as heterogeneous nuclei of crystallization.
