Summary:The mineralogy of uranium and thorium is well studied. However, in many cases the finding of new uranium and thorium minerals is of importance, because it gives more reliable information about geological settings and mineralization processes and allows us to evaluate the U/Th potential of the localities of findings. According to the latest review, issued in 2007, there were no findings of uranium and thorium in terrigenous rocks in the Urals. Uraninite, thorite, and thorianite have been described in pegmatites, granite massifs, and alkaline massifs. In addition, uraninite was found in alluvial deposits in the Iset River Valley, where it is the main ore mineral in the Dalmatovskoe hydrogenic deposit.
