Summary: | A number of novel cyclo- and bicyclosilanes connected by linear silanylene chains have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. The UV absorption properties of all compounds were studied and found to show low-energy absorption maxima red-shifted compared to acyclic compounds with comparable chain lengths. Synthesis of the new polysilanes was accomplished using silyl anions as key intermediates, which allow a stepwise controlled setup. |
