Porosity types in complex carbonate reservoirs based on petrophysical studies

Petrophysical study of Carboniferous limestones and dolomites of Berkutovskaya gas-producing area of Mrakovskaya Depression (Ural Foredeep) was conducted by the authors. Correlations were established among residual water saturation, open and “effective” porosity, permeability, relative resistivity,...

Summary:Petrophysical study of Carboniferous limestones and dolomites of Berkutovskaya gas-producing area of Mrakovskaya Depression (Ural Foredeep) was conducted by the authors. Correlations were established among residual water saturation, open and “effective” porosity, permeability, relative resistivity, and sonic speed. Secondary porosity (fracture and cavernous) and intergranular porosity were distinguished and porosity cut-off points were established.
