Summary:Air-stable and nontoxic inorganic single-source precursor sodium yttrium fluorocarbonate was decomposed to complex fluoride and oxyfluoride nanocrystals under mild hydrothermal conditions and thermal treatments. Different reaction parameters such as solvent, reaction time, and temperature were studied for the phase, size, and morphology control of the precursor and product nanocrystallines. The size and morphology of the product nanocrystallines are determined by the precursor. Eu3+-doped NaYF4 and YOF nanocrystallines were used for the photoluminescence examinations.
