Summary:A general model with machine- and soil-specific parameters is proposed to estimate the draft of tillage and seeding implements under general conditions. Machine draft is estimated as a function of soil texture, implement width, depth, and speed of operation for most major operations. The model requires little knowledge of specific soil conditions but provides reasonable, average draft values for general conditions. Machine- and soil-specific parameters developed from currently available draft information for most tillage and seeding operations are presented in convenient reference tables
