MICROWAVE-INDUCED ORGANIC-REACTION ENHANCEMENT (MORE) CHEMISTRY .5. SIMPLIFIED RAPID HYDROGENATION UNDER MICROWAVE IRRADIATION - SELECTIVE TRANSFORMATIONS OF BETA-LACTAMS

A simplified, easy to conduct, and inexpensive technique for high temperature (at about 130-degrees-C) catlytic transfer hydrogenation in a domestic microwave oven is described and examples are provided of selective transformation of beta-lactams using Pd/C or Raney nickel catalyst.
