Abstract A vehicle antitheft system includes an immobilizer unit and a portable unit. Each of the units includes an antenna, a communication part, a data processor, and storages. The immobilizer unit and the portable unit authenticate each other, based on a highly encrypted authentication method, using at least first data for mutual authentication. Thereafter, the first data for mutual authentication or second data for mutual authentication different from the first data for mutual authentication is stored in the storages of the immobilizer unit and the portable unit.
