Summary: | Disclosed herein is a projection type display apparatus, including: a color separation optical system configured to separate light from a light source into a plurality of light fluxes of different colors; a plurality of reflection type light valve devices provided individually for the color light fluxes; a plurality of polarization beam splitters each configured to polarize and separate a predetermined one of the color light fluxes separated by said color separation optical system and then polarize and separate the light coming in from the reflection type light valve device; and a light reception device provided for one or more of said polarization beam splitters and configured to detect light emitted from a second face from among faces of the predetermined polarization beam splitter which is opposite to a first face to which the predetermined color light flux from said color separation optical system is introduced. |
