Abstract El dolor es un fenómeno complejo, determinado por múltiples causas, resulta de la interacción de factores psicológicos, fisiológicos y socioculturales. Es estudiado por diferentes disciplinas, entre las que se encuentran la Psicofisiología. La personalidad del paciente puede afectar a la sensación dolorosa, es decir, lo que es sentido por el sujeto o su expresión de dolor (lo que comunica). La corteza cingulada anterior interviene en el proceso de la información de los estímulos relacionados con sensaciones desagradables o displacenteras. El dolor en sus manifestaciones físicas y psíquicas acompaña inevitablemente al ser humano durante su vida, ligado a procesos históricos, como las guerras, a fenómenos ambientales, procesos fisiológicos y patológicos. Este trabajo pretende adentrarse en los mecanismos de producción del dolor y los factores que influyen en el organismo. Existen diferencias interindividuales psicológicas y fisiológicas que pueden ser evaluadas a priori y permitir pronosticar el comportamiento de los combatientes ante situaciones de estrés y dolor.
