Summary: | Early reports indicated that as many as 3,000 people might have been inside the state's tallest building at the time, Tulsa Fire Capt. Hubert Rouse said. Emergency crews and employees inside reported an orderly evacuation after the ruptured line flooded the building's basement. "We think everything's going very well," Rouse said outside the tower as the evacuation was winding down. Some people had to be assisted from the building because of medical problems that prevented them from going down the stairs. The tower will be closed for an unknown time while crews fight flooding that was reported in the building's switch-gear room, basement and garage, said Brad Church, a Williams Cos. spokesman. About three feet of water might have flooded the area, Church said. A theater also is in the basement, he said. |
