Summary:Most of the groups whose programs I attended were cataloging and/or metadata-focused; nearly all fell squarely within the technical services footprint, with the exception of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Libraries Interest Group and (possibly) the Library Storage Interest Group. Major topic areas included: * Metadata standards, interoperability, and conversion * BibFrame * Faceted vocabularies and linked data * Generative artificial intelligence * Education, training, and professional development for technical services librarians * Structures and support-concrete and abstract, by catalogers and/or for catalogers * Ethics, inclusion, and social equity Needless to say, these topics naturally overlap and blend into each other in various combinations; Core IG Week was no exception. The Cataloging Norms IG also featured Katherine Peterson's exploration of the University of Iowa's streaming video cataloging policy, including their use of MARC field 532 (Accessibility Note) and field 341 (Accessibility Content) for accessibility information, and provider-neutral records to assure that streaming titles will not be bound to a platform that will surely change. Accessibility was also a focus at the Technical Services Workflow Efficiency IG session, where Anita Kazmierczak talked about the Library of Congress National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and PrintDisabled's use of Communication Category codes in the MARC 072 field ($2 bissc) (Subject Category Code) to create accessibility metadata.
