Summary:Accurately named the "Birthplace of Aviation," Dayton is home to many renowned institutions such as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the National Museum of the United States Air Force and the National Aviation Hall of Fame. The hidden jewel of the "Gem City" is home to many unique artifacts such as the Wright Brothers Test Engine No. 3, an electric cash register developed by Charles Kettering for the National Cash Register Co. (NCR) and Ermal Fraze's "pull top" can. Since its founding, the club has been a frequent location for innovative minds, engineers andbusinesspeople. Kettering, another engineer, worked for Deeds at NCR and was the other co-founder of Delco, head of research at General Motors, inventor of the electric starter for automobiles and the co-developer of antiknock gasoline. The keynote speaker was notable Dayton-area ISE and club member Adedeji Badiru, dean of the Graduate School of Engineering & Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base here in Dayton.
