Lowell native remembered for public service

[Kathy], assistant deputy minister at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for the province of Ontario at the time of her death, was recognized as the "consummate public servant" and dedicated advocate for affordable housing "whose tenacity to achieve her vision was only matched by her genuine compassion for all she served, and her high ethical standards and leadership." Among the speakers at the ceremony last month was Ontario's premier, Dalton McGuinty. Attending the ceremony were Kathy's sisters, Judy, of Dracut, Mary, of New York, and Beth, of Liberty, Maine. A fourth surviving sister, Anne, was unable to attend. All her old schoolmates and friends here will recall the happy, young Kathy, who, before her early death, saw so much of her dream come true.
