Summary: | Things looked rather grim on both the lease and the refuge as a hunting buddy and I drove the back roads, scouting fields, hoping to find good numbers of both doves and geese. We felt lucky when we finally located a double digit count of doves feeding in a millet field owned by my buddy. The only geese we could find were happily camped out in a no hunting zone. Before daylight our hunting party of six crept into the previously scouted field, and silently placed goose decoys by what little moonlight made its way through the surrounding trees. However, well past dawn there were no signs of the geese which had been in the area the morning prior. |
