Abstract Developers and homeowners alike seem to have lost sight of why covenants were originally created: to keep the outlandish activities of some homeowners from negatively impacting an entire street or neighborhood. Instead, we've reached a point where sameness and conformity are not only being encouraged, but mandated. Under today's ultra-strict covenants, anything that might personalize a home is forbidden. And children can't play basketball at their own homes because someone once decided basketball goals are unsightly. There is no longer a rush hour in Atlanta. The traffic is a disaster all day long. It could be improved 100 percent if the dummies in charge would change the traffic signals so cars did not have to stop at a red light every block. Going from Johnson Ferry on Peachtree Dunwoody Road to Hammond Drive, there are seven traffic signals. It is time someone woke up to the problem.
