Summary: | She's an older woman. Seventies maybe. She ambled over to the window where I stood on the campus of Forest Park Community College. We both stared at The Arena, or really the rubble that was once The Arena. And then she sighed, "I guess it just outlived its usefulness." When I turned to look at her, I saw her white hair, her faded skin. And for the first time, I also saw The Arena as something else: a crystal ball. The Arena tells the story of what's going to happen to us all. We are born, we are strong, we have purpose. But after a while we also age, we grow older, we become less and less useful. |
