This comes in the wake of [Milton Kirk]'s allegations that he and Trezevant coach Lynn Lang concocted a plan during the summer of 1999 before Means's senior year that eventually brought Lang $200,000 - all of which Kirk said Lang has kept. Kirk has said he was present when a deal was offered in separate meetings with college assistants - including [Ivy Williams], Melvin Smith of Mississippi State, Leon Perry of Georgia, and Fitz Hill and Danny Nutt of Arkansas. Kirk also said he was present when the deal was offered to an assistant from Michigan State whose name he could not recall. One SEC assistant coach, speaking on terms of anonymity, confirmed to The Commercial Appeal on Tuesday that Lang told him it would take two vehicles and $100,000 to sign Means. That is consistent with what Kirk said he and Lang decided the original asking price would be.
