Summary: | "Every time you do a new play, there's always a fear that no one will come," [Preston Lane] said in an interview. "It was at the holiday time when there's a lot of competition for holiday dollars, yet we were turning people away. Now, we're excited to be able to bring the play back again." "Beautiful Star" begins its second run with preview performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Pyrle Theater in downtown Greensboro. Opening night festivities are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the play continues through Dec. 23, except Mondays. "Everyone wanted to come back, which was great, and if it worked out, they're here," Lane said. "I'm always surprised at how much the actors remember when you're doing a production again. Last year, everyone involved really became this big family. That's made it a lot easier this time around, not only in rehearsals, but in the overall atmosphere." Also back this year is a live bluegrass band led by Rhiannon Giddens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Giddens will team with solo artists Andrew Eversole and Stephanie Coleman to bring [Laurelyn Dossett]'s original music to life on stage. |
