In a letter to the CMC last month, Mr Beattie said he was "appalled" by the lack of rules governing how the Speaker's entertainment budget was spent. Mr Hollis is the third Labor MP to be investigated by the CMC in recent months, after former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy Minister Liddy Clark, and Mr Beattie himself.
