Summary: | David Blunkett was in little doubt about his priorities yesterday. England and Wales' first-ever national policing plan will target drug- related crime, car crime, burglary, street crime and anti-social behaviour. Supt [Graham Rankin] said: "It is not yet clear how the funding will follow the plan. The main issue is the plan gives us a list of priorities, but doesn't say which are the most important. We have a large number of priorities and they are not in any particular order. I think it will be up to the local police forces to decide their top priorities within those set out by the Government." Northumbria Police's deputy chief constable Mike Craik, said yesterday: "We welcome Mr Blunkett's annual report and the priorities he has raised are ones which have been operating in Northumbria for a number of years. |
